FANTASTIQUE 20 20 20

The Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival (NIFFF) unveils its touring event Fantastique 20 20 20, starting tomorrow with the legendary Midnight Movie (Film de Minuit) slot on national TV (RTS). It will continue this fall throughout Switzerland. Working as a true celebration of the evolution of fantastic films, this retrospective is an opportunity to (re)discover films that have played an important part in making it the biggest genre today. FANTASTIQUE 20 20 20 includes gems that have marked the history of the NIFFF as well as the genre itself, and embodied the festival’s mission for two decades.

Available first on the RTS channel and on the Spamflix streaming platform, the programme will continue in the fall throughout Swiss cinemas: the Swiss Film Archive (Lausanne), Cinepel (Neuchâtel), ZHDK’s Klub Kuleshov (Zürich), Cinéma CityClub (Pully), Altroquando Festival (Lugano), Cinérama Empire (Geneva) and the ABC (Chaux-de-Fonds) among others.

FIRST STOP: THE MIDNIGHT MOVIE (RTS)

FANTASTIQUE 20 20 20 will take up residence on RTS 1 every week from May 15th to June 26th. Every Friday, the Midnight Movie (at 12:35 a.m.) will welcome creatures and fantasies that have seared themselves into the memory of the festival’s audience. From zany vampire comedy WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS (Jemaine Clement & Taika Waititi, NZ, 2014) and the intense punk survival GREEN ROOM (Jeremy Saulnier, US, 2015), to the Japanese adaptation of legendary manga KASANE – BEAUTY AND FATE (Yûichi Satô, JP, 2018) and the story of the friendship between a human and a zombie played by Daniel Radcliffe and Paul Dano – SWISS ARMY MAN (Dan Kwan & Daniel Scheinert, US, 2016) –, you will be able to experience the NIFFF from your living room through a highly entertaining selection of films from all over the world, a testament of the genre’s diversity.
